GREETING

Our laboratory is working hard on research of information and communication technology by groping in the dark and through trial and error, hoping to contribute to the realization of a truly ubiquitous society. Our laboratory's policy is to "enjoy the research life" and our educational creed is to "know the joy of learning." It is very gratifying to have a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment when we come up with solutions, ideas, or unsolved research results.

There are three things that I personally think are important in order to get ideas and inspiration for how to solve unsolved issues. The first one is not to be give up. The second one is to be interested and curious not only in basic engineering subjects, such as mathematics and physics, but also in a variety of subjects. The other is to be able to think and interpret what is written in books, papers, textbooks, reference books, and technical books in my own way and explain it in my own words (for example, explain it with concrete examples, explain it with different concrete examples, or explain it by replacing it with familiar examples), instead of just believing what is written in books, papers, textbooks, reference books, and technical books. From junior high school to junior year of college, some students may be able to get good grades even by learning how to solve the problem and applying that method, but that method may lead them to get stuck when they start their research. I think it is good for you to regularly think about and interpret what you have researched and studied in your own way and to be able to explain it in your own words.

Anyway, if you have experienced joy of thinking and joy of learning and have been into research, let's go on to the doctoral course and pursue your research.

Unfortunately, we hardly accept foreign students now because of COVID-19. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
