Master’s program

Applicants sought by the Department of Applied Cognitive Informatics

We are seeking applicants who have a strong interest in solving problems in the information science field and who have the motivation and ability to acquire academic knowledge that will bring about revolutionary ideas from a broad academic perspective that includes fields such as information science, information engineering, and cognitive science.

Selection method

Selection is based on transcripts, oral examinations, academic achievement tests, and TOEIC L&R or TOEFL scores. Before applying, please contact the faculty member of your choice and confirm the contents of your education and research. Applicants recommended by a National Institute of Technology based on a memorandum of understanding may be exempted from the academic achievement test.

Oral examination: There will be a question-and-answer session on aspects such as your reasons for applying to your desired education and research area, graduation research content, research plans for graduate school, and plans for after graduation. However, depending on your transcript, TOEIC L&R or TOEFL scores, and oral examination results, you may be exempted from the academic achievement test.

Academic achievement test: Questions will be generally asked from the following fields.

  • Information mathematics, applied mathematics [including discrete mathematics, probability theory, statistics, algebraic structure, Fourier analysis]
  • Computer and logic design [including Boolean algebra, combinatorial logic circuits, sequential circuits, computer architecture, and networks]
  • Programming, algorithms [including algorithm design and data structures]
